Plants use sunlight for photosynthesis through a process called photophosphorylation. In this process, light energy is absorbed by the chlorophyll in plant cells. The light energy is then converted into chemical energy, which is used to convert carbon dioxide and water into glucose and oxygen. This process takes place in the chloroplasts of plant cells.
