Plants use a process called photosynthesis to convert sunlight into energy. During photosynthesis, plants use the energy from sunlight to convert carbon dioxide and water into glucose (sugar) and oxygen. This process takes place in the chloroplasts of plant cells, where chlorophyll (a green pigment) captures the sunlight and starts the chemical reactions that ultimately produce energy for the plant.
