Geysers are natural hot springs that intermittently erupt columns of water and steam into the air. They are formed when underground water is heated by magma chambers deep below the Earth's surface. As this heated water rises back towards the surface, it can become trapped in narrow passages, leading to pressure build-up. When the pressure eventually overcomes the weight of the water column above, an eruption occurs, resulting in the spectacular display of a geyser.
