Light Yagami, the protagonist of the manga and anime series Death Note, rationalizes his actions by believing that his goal of creating a utopia where he is the ultimate arbiter of justice justifies the means he uses to achieve it. He sees himself as purging the world of criminals and wrongdoers, believing that sacrificing a few lives for the greater good will ultimately lead to a better society. This skewed sense of justice and his growing megalomania lead him to justify his increasingly extreme and unethical actions as necessary steps towards his vision of a perfect world.

Light Yagami, the main character in the anime "Death Note," rationalizes his actions by believing that he is creating a better world by eliminating criminals and wrongdoers. He sees himself as a righteous judge who enforces justice through his use of the Death Note, a supernatural notebook that allows him to kill anyone by writing their name in it. Light justifies his extreme methods as necessary to rid the world of evil and create a society free of crime and corruption.
