Lions have a specialized protective layer in their eyes called the tapetum lucidum. This layer enhances their night vision and helps them see in low light conditions during hunts. Additionally, lions also have a third eyelid, known as the nictitating membrane, that helps protect their eyes from debris and potential injuries while hunting.
