Geysers work by a combination of heat, water, and pressure underground. The water seeps down into the ground and gets heated by the Earth's magma. As the water heats up, it creates pressure that builds up underground. When the pressure becomes too much, the water is forced up through a narrow opening, causing the geyser to erupt and shoot hot water and steam into the air.
