A corner kick is a method of restarting play in a game of soccer. It is awarded to the attacking team when the defending team plays the ball out of bounds over their own goal line. The corner kick is taken from the corner arc nearest to where the ball went out of play. The attacking team can then kick the ball back into play from this corner spot, usually to set up a scoring opportunity for their team.
