Hamsters have pouches in their cheeks that are used for storing food. These pouches are located on each side of their mouths and can stretch to accommodate a surprisingly large amount of food. Hamsters use their front paws to push the food into their pouches, allowing them to carry food back to their burrows or nests to eat later.
