Koalas do not actually get drunk from eucalyptus leaves. While eucalyptus leaves are their primary source of food and they consume them in large quantities, the leaves do not have enough alcohol content to intoxicate the koalas. Koalas have a specialized digestive system that helps them break down the toxins in eucalyptus leaves, allowing them to safely consume these leaves as their main diet.
