Spiders produce silk through special glands located in their abdomen called spinnerets. These spinnerets are connected to silk glands where the silk proteins are produced. The silk is then forced through tiny spigots in the spinnerets and can be used for various purposes such as building webs, making egg sacs, or wrapping prey.
