Sloths are known for their slow and deliberate movements, spending most of their time hanging upside down in trees. They are primarily nocturnal animals, sleeping up to 20 hours a day. Sloths are herbivores and have a slow metabolism, so they move slowly to conserve energy. They are solitary animals and are not very social, except during the mating season. Sloths are excellent swimmers and can swim at a relatively fast pace when needed.
