Can turtles breathe through their skin?

Turtles do not breathe through their skin. They have lungs and breathe air through their nostrils, just like other reptiles. However, some species of turtles, like the Fitzroy River turtle, can absorb limited oxygen through their skin while underwater, but this is not their main method of respiration.
