The imperial emblem of the Sassanids was the Derafsh Kaviani, also known as the "Standard of Kav" or "Banner of the Kaviani". It was a royal banner that depicted a charging boar and a sun disc. The bird known as the Phoenix was also associated with the Sassanid Empire, symbolizing immortality and rebirth.
