Takemichi is motivated to challenge the systemic issues within the Tokyo Manji Gang mainly because of his desire to protect the people he cares about, especially his friends and loved ones who have been affected by the gang's influence. Additionally, his sense of justice and determination to create a better future for everyone drives him to take on the gang's problems head-on.
