Glaciers shape landforms through a process known as glaciation. As glaciers move, they erode the land beneath them through the weight and pressure of the ice, as well as the abrasive action of the rocks and sediment carried along by the glacier. This erosion can create features such as U-shaped valleys, cirques, moraines, and fjords. Additionally, when glaciers melt, they deposit the sediment they were carrying, forming glacial deposits such as till, outwash plains, and eskers.
