Bees contribute to pollination in the following ways ¹ ² ³:
- Bees pollinate flowers and plants as they move from plant to plant in search of nectar and pollen.
- As they land on a flower, pollen grains from the male part of the plant stick to their hairy bodies.
- Some of these grains then rub off onto the female part of the next flower that the bee visits.
- This process allows the plant to reproduce by fertilizing the seed that will grow into a fruit or a vegetable.
