Light Yagami, the main character from the anime "Death Note," initially believes he is morally righteous in his quest to rid the world of criminals using the Death Note. However, as the series progresses, he begins to exhibit more ruthless and megalomaniacal behavior. When faced with the realization that he may not be as morally righteous as he believed, Light's response is generally to rationalize his actions and justify them as necessary for the greater good. He becomes increasingly consumed by his own power and ambition, leading to a tragic downfall in the end.
