Light Yagami's view of himself evolves significantly over the course of the series "Death Note." At the beginning, he starts off as a high-achieving student who views himself as a savior of society, intending to create a utopia by eliminating criminals with the Death Note. However, as he gets further entangled in the power of the Death Note and his alter ego as Kira, his view of himself becomes more distorted and megalomaniacal. He starts seeing himself as a god-like figure with the authority to judge and sentence others, losing touch with his initial morals and becoming consumed by his own sense of superiority. This transformation ultimately leads to his downfall as he becomes increasingly ruthless and detached from his humanity.
