In Death Note, the theme of corruption of innocence is explored primarily through the main character, Light Yagami, who starts out as a high school student with good intentions to rid the world of criminals using the Death Note. However, as he becomes consumed by power and the idea of creating a utopia through fear and control, his innocence is gradually corrupted. This transformation is depicted through his increasingly ruthless and manipulative actions, leading to the loss of his moral compass and descent into darkness. Additionally, the character of Misa Amane also exemplifies the corruption of innocence as she becomes infatuated with Light and is willing to do anything to please him, even if it means compromising her own values and beliefs.
