Light Yagami manipulates Teru Mikami by exploiting his strong sense of justice and devotion to the idea of punishing criminals. Light convinces Teru Mikami that he is the chosen one to carry out Kira's justice and uses this belief to turn him into a loyal pawn. Additionally, Light plays on Mikami's admiration for Kira and his desire to bring about a world free of crime, ultimately leading Mikami to carry out Kira's will without question.
