Tunisia does not have an official national animal. While the country does not have a designated national animal, it is home to a variety of wildlife, including the Barbary lion, the national animal of neighboring countries like Morocco, Algeria, and Libya. However, due to habitat loss and hunting, the Barbary lion is now extinct in the wild, and there are efforts to reintroduce captive-bred lions into protected areas in North Africa. Additionally, the Tunisian government has taken steps to protect and preserve other native species, such as the Barbary macaque and the Mediterranean monk seal.
