Hamsters have pouches in their cheeks that they use to store food. These pouches are located on both sides of their mouths and can stretch to accommodate a surprisingly large amount of food. Hamsters use their cheek pouches to transport food back to their burrows or nests where they can then eat in safety and comfort.
