Chinchillas keep cool in hot weather by taking dust baths, which helps to remove excess oils and moisture from their fur. They also have a high tolerance for heat and regulate their body temperature by seeking out cooler areas in their environment, such as shaded spots or areas with good airflow. Additionally, chinchillas have very dense fur that insulates them in colder temperatures but also helps to keep them cool in warmer weather by trapping a layer of air close to their bodies.
