Lions exhibit mourning behavior when a pride member passes away by showing signs of distress, such as decreased activity, vocalizations, and physical contact with the deceased lion. They may also spend time sniffing, nuzzling, and grooming the body of the deceased as a way to show their grief and respect. In some cases, lions may even stop eating for a period of time after the loss of a pride member.
