The War of Palashi, also known as the Battle of Plassey, was fought on June 23, 1757, between the British East India Company and the army of the Nawab of Bengal, Siraj-ud-Daulah. The British victory in this battle established their control over Bengal and marked the beginning of British dominance in India.
