Tides are caused by the gravitational forces between the Earth, the Moon, and the Sun. The gravitational pull of the Moon causes the water on Earth to bulge out towards the Moon, creating high tides. As the Earth rotates, different parts of the planet experience high tides due to the Moon's position. When the Moon is at a right angle to the Sun, we experience lower high tides, known as neap tides. When the Sun, Earth, and Moon are aligned, we experience higher high tides, known as spring tides.
