Why is snow white in color?

Snow appears white because the ice crystals in snowflakes reflect and scatter all visible wavelengths of light, giving it a white appearance. The complex structure of snowflakes allows them to act like prisms, refracting and reflecting light in all directions, resulting in the white color that we see.
